happy fathers day quotes

Father's Day will be Sunday, June 16, 2019. How do you celebrate your father (or do you honor his memory)? On this page you will find Father's Day dates, a brief history of Father's Day, good quotes and delicious recipes, Papa's Meatloaf at Catch to Dad.
HISTORY OF THE DAY OF THE FATHER
Like Mother's Day, Father's Day has a story that goes well beyond greeting cards.

The first known Father's Day service was held on July 5, 1908 at the Williams Memorial Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church, Fairmont, West Virginia, thanks to the efforts of Grace Golden Clayton. Mrs. Clayton had asked her pastor, Dr. R. Thomas Webb, if a Sunday service could be organized to honor fathers.

Missing her own father, who died in 1896, Clayton wanted a special service in memory of the more than 200 fathers who died in a mine blast in Monongah, a few miles south of Fairmont on December 6th. last year. (This was the worst mining disaster in US history, killing more than 360 men and boys and leaving about 1,000 children without a father.)

Although the Fairmont service was the first known to honor fathers, it did not turn into an annual event and the idea was not promoted either (a big celebration at Fairmont on July 4th and a young tragic death due to typhoid fever having done).

Father's Day gains ground

Many people across the country have had similar ideas over the years, but Ms. Sonora Smart Dodd is known to be the one that is popularizing her, starting with the events that led Father's Day to become a national holiday.

Her story began as she listened to Mother's Day sermon in 1909. Mrs. Dodd thought it might be nice to honor fathers. His father, William Smart, had raised SIX alone on his Washington farm after the death of his wife, who had given birth to their sixth child.

Ms. Dodd proposed to the Spokane Association of Ministers and the YMCA to celebrate a "Father's Day". She chose June 5th because it was her father's birthday.

The idea received strong support, but Spokane's good ministers asked that the day be changed to give them more time to prepare sermons on the unexplored topic of fathers.

The first Father's Day in Spokane, Washington, was celebrated on June 19, 1910 (the third Sunday in June) and became an annual event. Soon, other cities had their own celebrations.

From the local festival to the national holiday

Despite widespread support, Father's Day did not become a permanent national holiday for many years. The first bill was introduced in Congress in 1913, but despite the encouragement of President Woodrow Wilson, it was not passed. In 1966, Lyndon Johnson issued a proclamation designating the third Sunday of June as a tribute to fathers.

Finally, in 1972, President Richard Nixon signed a law stating that Father's Day would be celebrated every year on the third Sunday in June. Since then, it's an official and permanent national holiday.
A national holiday
The widely publicized events in Spokane touched a nerve that spread to Washington, DC, and the celebration of Sonora began to become a national holiday.

In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson and his family personally observed the day.
Eight years later, President Calvin Coolidge signed a resolution in favor of Father's Day "to build more intimate relationships between fathers and their children and to ensure that fathers are fully aware of their obligations" .
In 1966, President Lyndon Johnson signed a decree demanding that the holiday be celebrated on the third Sunday of June.
Under Richard Nixon's presidency, in 1972, Congress passed a law making Father's Day a national holiday. (Six years later, Sonora died at the age of 96.) Father's Day Quotes

ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2019 Match 11 Pakistan Vs Sri Lanka

Match Report: Pakistani 1st against Sri Lanka Sri Lanka arrived in the United Arab Emirates in the context of a 9-0 victory for India in all formats. They were supposed to be mere opponents for a Pakistani team that has been playing its home series in the UAE since 2009 and in the UAE, especially Abu Dhabi is considered a fortress of Pakistani cricket. In nine previous test matches, Pakistan had won five wins and four draws at Sheikh Zayed Stadium. An injured Sri Lankan team should pose no threat. But Pakistan was itself in a transition phase after losing its two main hunters, Misbah and Younis, to retirement. Chandimal won the draw for Sri Lanka and did not hesitate to hit first. Pakistan made a big mistake playing Yasir Shah as their only spinner and playing with 3 pacers. On the contrary, Sri Lanka entered with 3 spinners. Pakistan handed a test cap to Haris Sohail and Shan Masood and Sami Aslam made their comeback. Pakistan started positively while Sri Lanka was reduced to 6
